“Yes We Still Care” CAPP Rally Protest Harper at BC Legislature

Local Victoria residents gathered on the steps of the BC Legislature on February 11, 2010 to pay tribute to Stephen Harper’s lack of care and respect for the Canadian people. “Yes We Care” Mr Harper. The people want you to do your job Mr. Harper not cruise the country looking for photo ops at our expense on your 3 month vacation. Harper does not have to courage nor the desire to face the people of this country. Is this the end of Mr Harpers career? With onlookers waiting to get a chance get a glimpse of the Prime Minister, they were disappointed when the order was to have him escape through a secret door so he could circumvent any sort of public scrutiny. Mr Harper you should be humiliated because Canadians are speaking up against you and your government. Help send a message to Ottawa. Post this video on your facebook wall to make everyone aware that Canadians do care how this country is run. They work for us, it’s not the other way around.

Children’s Autism Intervention Program Closes Across BC (video)

On Monday afternoon we attended a Candle Light Vigil for the closing of the Early Intensive Behavioural Intervention (EIBI) program at Queen Alexandra Children’s Health Centre. Friday January 29, 2010 marked the final day of the BC children’s autism intervention program across BC. Children and parents gathered in the cold rain on the steps of the Victoria Parliament Buildings to mourn the end of a program that has changed the lives of so many over the past 8 years. Minister Mary Polak decided this was the route to take in September of 2009. This program has a very successful track record. Early intervention is key to making sure children with autism have an equal chance at a quality education. Closing this program takes us backwards. Here is what some people had to say. More than 60 rallies across the country made it known how unhappy they were with the current proceedings of our current governing party. Canadians want action NOW. They want change NOW. AM Fresh has done it again this year. This video is a gift to those who cannot get out in the world due to illness, immobility or you just do not have the means to get around. The Times Columnist Victoria News has done their search for the best houses from entries submitted to them each year. AM Fresh makes the rounds to gather lights for your viewing pleasure. Some of these did not make the cut for the Times but they sure were a pleasure for us to get. Several of the local stores reported record sales this year for outdoor christmas lights. People are taking advantage of the warmer than usual conditions and getting into the Christmas spirit.

Lights are just one of the many things to get a person in the mood for Christmas. Join us this year with this Christmas Truck Light Parade Video. Trucks from The Greater Victoria and surrounding area gather together providing a spectacular light display and raising money for the food bank. This video was taken in Victoria BC on December 5 2009. Kudos to the people involved in organizing and decorating. We look forward to many more parades. Donations can be made to any food bank.

Christmas Lights Video Launch Dec 21 2009

It seems people are getting into the spirit of Christmas earlier this year. Most years it has not been until the first week of December before I would see lights appearing on houses.

Stores are reporting record highs in sales of outdoor Christmas lights. Is this the year of early lighting? Really folks this is a good thing. In todays economy something has to brighten our spirits. Why not start the celebrations early?

AM Fresh is also starting early with this Lighting The Way puzzle to get you in the mood. This Christmas enthusiast has prompted the energy flow to start. Rest assured a vast majority of the lights are energy efficient bulbs. It just goes to show you can have a nice display using LED lighting.

Before you start the puzzle though how about getting your lights up, take a photo and send it too lights@amfresh.ca Your display may appear in our up and coming Christmas Lights video. See our other two published Christmas Lights videos from 2008 and 2007 (you might want to turn your speakers down a bit). In the 2008 video the music was provided by a local group Relative Harmony.

Christmas videos produced by AM Fresh are for those people who do not have the ability to get around the see the displayed light shows that are available in their city. AM Fresh is also expanding this year so if you are not in Victoria BC, that is okay you can still participate sending to the same address above. Please state what city the photo is from. The Gray Owl, A Nocturnal Creature…. Or So I Thought

And I thought owls only came out at night, if you had good eyes. Rest assured they saw me long before I saw them. I’ve heard them, but seldom seen one in the daytime.

In the day time, it is much different. You would think that a bird would see you and fly away rather quickly. This fairly young bird did not fly away at all. She was perched on a log with her friend a couple feet away. He on the other hand was not too trusting. He looked like he was getting ready to charge the camera. I guess I was getting to close to his potential mate. A whole lot of hissing and spitting going on.

I was able to get with in 3 feet to take this photograph of this beautiful creature. Of coarse I took full advantage of the moment. It goes to show you never travel anywhere without a camera, that perfect shot is always out there.
