Children’s Autism Intervention Program Closes Across BC (video)
On Monday afternoon we attended a Candle Light Vigil for the closing of the Early Intensive Behavioural Intervention (EIBI) program at Queen Alexandra Children’s Health Centre. Friday January 29, 2010 marked the final day of the BC children’s autism intervention program across BC. Children and parents gathered in the cold rain on the steps of the Victoria Parliament Buildings to mourn the end of a program that has changed the lives of so many over the past 8 years. Minister Mary Polak decided this was the route to take in September of 2009. This program has a very successful track record. Early intervention is key to making sure children with autism have an equal chance at a quality education. Closing this program takes us backwards. Here is what some people had to say. There is a facebook group here.
